Fiesta Kickoff Fundraiser Thank You
Keith Zars Pools goes Pink at Fiesta Kickoff Fundraiser Event
Benefiting Susan G. Komen San Antonio
Keith Zars Pools’ Fiesta Kickoff fundraiser event had a wonderful turnout and was a great success. Our display pools turned pink on April 11, 2018 to benefit Susan G. Komen San Antonio for Team Finish Strong for Cindee and support women affected by breast cancer in San Antonio.
Keith Zars Pools has partnered with several notable San Antonians to raise money and awareness about a cancer that affects more than 1.3 million women each year and still has no cure. But there is hope. Part of Keith Zars Pools’ involvement is to help offset the cost of anyone affected by this disease.
At the Fiesta Kickoff Fundraiser, guests enjoyed margaritas, live music by Bryce Menchaca and Lupe Tortilla appetizers poolside while listening to presentations by Keith Zars Pools representatives and two keynote speakers from Susan G. Komen San Antonio.
Breast Cancer Fiesta Medals were sold for $25 at the Fiesta Kickoff with all proceeds going to local Susan G. Komen San Antonio in honor of Team Finish Strong for Cindee.
Elyse Bernal, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen San Antonio, was one of the keynote speakers at our Fiesta Kickoff, and she reiterated that all money raised goes to local San Antonians affected by breast cancer.
Desaree LaMacchia, a Susan G. Komen San Antonio board member and Team Finish Strong for Cindee team captain, was our other keynote speaker at the event. Desaree lost her mother, Cindee, almost two years ago from this disease and has kept her promise to her mother by helping other fighters, survivors and families who have been affected by breast cancer.
“Family and friends, as most of you know, we lost my Mama on April 30, 2016. One of the last things my Mama and I spoke about was helping others,” Desaree said. “So, I am keeping my promise to my Mama and decided to raise $10,000.00 personally in 2018 to help support breast cancer patients and bring awareness by doing something positive.”
Desaree has a goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% within the next decade. Anyone who wants to learn more about her story, join the Finish Strong for Cindee team or donate to the cause can do so at her Susan G. Komen Fundraiser Page.
According to the Susan G. Komen San Antonio website, there are a number of significant reasons why this organization fundraises:
• Because 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
• Because every 19 seconds, somewhere in the world, a case of breast cancer is diagnosed in a woman.
• Because every 60 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer; every 13 minutes, one woman in the U.S. will lose her life to breast cancer.
• This year, in Bexar County, 1,000 people are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer and nearly 200 will lose their lives to the disease.
• Because breast cancer knows no boundaries. It affects people of every age, gender, socio-economic status and location.
• Because at the current rate, 13 million breast cancer deaths will occur around the world in the next 25 years.
• Because it’s time to go beyond breast cancer awareness. It’s time to take action!
Keith Zars Pools would like to thank Desaree LaMacchia, Andrew LaMacchia from OVM Financial, Kim and John Dean from Goosehead Insurance, Nicole Yamin from Netco Title, and Meg Zars, from eXp Realty, who co-sponsored this event.
